Volunteer Opportunities:

Friends of the Library

The Friends of the Baldwin Library is a group of volunteers who want to help the library serve their community by:

• Increasing public awareness of the library's resources and services and encouraging the community to support their library;
• Helping to promote the library through special events;
• Raising funds to help the library purchase new materials and equipment;
• Volunteering to work at cultural events and library programs;
• Assisting the library staff with routine library tasks.

The Friends of the Library volunteers are also responsible for hosting the annual June Bug Days Book Sale.  This is a fun way to help raise funds for the library, and we welcome new members!  If you are interested in becoming a Friend of the Library, please contact Rebecca at baldwinlibrary@ifls.lib.wi.us or by phone at 684-3813.

Friends of the Library Annual Meeting:  BUSY YEAR!

The review of last year's projects showed what a busy and successful year it was for the Friend of the Baldwin Library volunteer group.  Special thanks to Rochel Karlson, chairperson, and her family for all their contributions in many forms! 

The group planned a slate of events for the coming year as well, including movie nights, a summer food booth, the fall chili feed, and the annual big June Bug Days book sale.  Talk to Rochel at the Baldwin Greenhouse if you are interested in participating in any of these or have other ideas!

One of the most fun events was a pie contest, which brought in some fantastic entries!  Voting was very close, as there were no losers in the bunch, but eventually winners were chosen.

Single Crust Category                       1st prize - Mary Ann Johnson, 2nd prize - Chris Lockwood, and 3rd prize - Marna Grafenstein

Double Crust Category                     1st prize - Sue Hanson, 2nd prize - Jeanette Kersten, 3rd prize - Kim Hei

Junior Category                                1st prize - Hannah Phelps, 2nd prize - Myah Eliason, 3rd - Carissa Phelps

Grand Prize:                                    Hannah Phelps for her yummy Ice Cream Pie

After the pie contest an auction was held.  Thanks to all local businesses that contributed to the auction and thanks also to all participants and volunteers!  Congratulations everyone and remember to practice up for next year!

We're Looking For A Few Extra Hands!
Are you a detail-oriented person who would be willing and able to volunteer some of your time to help out the library?  If so, we'd love to hear from you!  Whether you can help out for an hour a week or an hour a year, we are always in need of helping hands -- and we rely on our volunteers to help us keep our shelves organized and things running smoothly!  If you're interested in learning more about the volunteer opportunities we currently have available, please call Rebecca at 684-2116 or email baldwinlibrary@ifls.lib.wi.us.  Hope to hear from you soon!
